WHEW! MAYBE MY LIFE WILL GET BACK TO NORMAL NOW.

by Jun 11, 2021

The last month and a half has been frenetic because I decided now was the time to sell my house. As another summer has started to get into full swing, I realized that I just did not want to continue to take care of my 3.06 acres anymore. In the past, Allen and I loved working in the yard and garden together. Allen loved to trim trees, pull out stumps and burn the pile of brush and twigs. I loved mowing (turning around and getting immediate gratification to see the trimmed grass) and gardening. One of my favorite flowers is shown above. Siberian Irises are gorgeous and pop up all my yard, thanks to transplants from my dear friend Jamie.

After a full day outside, we would kick back, fire up the grill and end our day on the deck with a glass of prosecco.

But, alas, it is just not fun anymore without Allen nearby. I just can no longer look forward to the yard and garden work without my soul mate joining in to make it all worthwhile.

So, it is time to move on. I have accepted a great offer on my house, and even have an almost -as -good back up offer. Hey, Soul Mate, you would be laughing and toasting our good fortune. Here’s to you, Allen, for giving me the resources to make my life better.

I just finished developing my content calendar for the rest of the month of June. I will begin regular posts again, on Tuesdays and Fridays. It will be fun to feature some family favorites like Strawberry Shortcake (Allen’s favorite summertime dessert), Crock Pot French Dip Sandwiches, Burgers and Red/White/Blue desserts for the 4th of July.

Today’s post, though, will include an all-time favorite summer potato salad: Lemon Rosemary Potato Salad. I do remember a request from Allen’s ex-babysitter, who would like to see the recipe for my ol’ “Messy Potato Salad”, so that recipe will be coming in about 3 weeks.

Until then, take care of yourself; enjoy family and friends as we emerge from the pandemic world into better–and greatly appreciated–social times and fun summer activities.

SCRUMPTIOUS and EASY MUSHROOM SLOPPY JOES

Most of us immediately envision a sweet and spicy red tomato sauce when we think of Sloppy Joes. I often made juicy, tomato-y Sloppy Joes. Just the right amount of sweet-sour flavor and texture spilling out of a soft bun. Sloppy Joes were a quick, easy meal that both...

DELICIOUS Valentine’s Day Brownies

One day (quite a few years ago, I have to admit) my then-9 year old son returned from playing at a friend's house and yelled: "Mom--Mark's Mom makes THE BEST BROWNIES in the world!" Well, those brownies must have been delicious if it's the first thing mentioned after...
