WHAT’S NEXT? REPOSTS TO COME

by May 11, 2021

Hi Everyone; you may not know this, but I have been trying to find a new house in Dexter. Although I love my current beautiful park-like setting, taking care of 3 acres of mowing, landscaping, weeding, and tree falling incidents has taken a toll. It is just not fun anymore to do all of this without Allen. Add Covid Pandemic issues, and it has become clear that I need to move along in life.

As a result, I am trying to get my own house ready for sale. This real estate market necessitates selling my home soon, so I have started purging 50 years of memories and joy. Nostalgia reigns supreme right now, but is a necessary process at this point in time.

This does mean, though, that I have not been cooking and posting recipes as much as usual. Time, energy (physical and emotional), and priorities have shifted. So I will be taking a “new post” hiatus over the next month and will be re-posting some old favorite recipes from the past year, with updates and/or additional comments and memories.

I plan on posting some favorite photos of Allen and our “park” activities, also. I hope you will enjoy this until I get back to regular new posts.

Upcoming posts will include:

Hot Salami Sandwiches (aka: how to get your car to cook for you)

Couscous and Veggie Salad (Feeds many, try it with whole wheat couscous)

Apple Puff Pancake (satisfying lazy day breakfast)

Asiago Cheese Bread (no knead, easy to make in the food processor)

Baked Parmesan Tomatoes (may wait until those home grown tomatoes are ready, but still great with fresh Romas now)

Biscuit Bites (let the kids help with these)

Broiled Shrimp and Broccoli (One of Allen’s favorite little effort meals)

Erika’s Favorite Fruit Dip (Easy, luscious, simple)

Grandpa’s Favorite Dip (Always worth repeating)

Honeyed Chicken (Karl can still eat this: no dairy or sugar)

Lemon Rosemary Potato Salad (perfect for summer)

Nectarine Upside Down Cake (easier with nectarines than peaches; no peeling required)

Tarragon Vegetables (simple and delicious)

Tomato Zucchini Casserole (a family favorite)

And more…

THE ABSOLUTE EASIEST AND BEST DESSERT DIP

As I mentioned in the last post, I am sorting and organizing many years' accumulation in order to sell my house and move to a new stage in life. Friends Judy and Mary Jo came over to help with weeding; they helped knock out 6 garden beds in record time! But we still...

ORANGE CARAMELIZED FISH WITH PINEAPPLE SALSA

ORANGE CARAMELIZED FISH WITH PINEAPPLE SALSA

ORANGE CARAMELIZED FISH WITH PINEAPPLE SALSA This simple fish treatment can be used with salmon, trout, cod, halibut, snapper, yellowtail, or almost any firm textured, light fish. My favorite is salmon, but that is probably because my husband Allen could grill or...

VEGETARIAN BOLOGNESE AND BAT NAPKINS!

FLAVORFUL VEGETARIAN BOLOGNESE When my daughter recently told me that she and her family were going to be vegetarians, I wasn’t surprised.  She has never liked handling meat, chicken, or fish.  As an adult with her own family, she cooked mostly vegetarian....

ROASTED ROOT SALAD WITH MAPLE SOY DRESSING– GREAT WINTER SALAD

ROASTED ROOT SALAD WITH MAPLE SOY DRESSING--THE ONLY TIME I ENJOY BEETS! Not only is this salad good, but the dish towel (a present from friend Mary Jo) is worth sharing, too! If you like beets, you will love this recipe. If you don't like beets--well, you will be...
